Tottenham Hotspur are now interested in signing Marc Guehi following his stellar rise with Crystal Palace, so who else has played for Spurs and Chelsea in the Premier League-era?

Guehi can join a small group of players to feature for both of the London rivals by moving this summer. The 21-year-old started his career in the Stamford Bridge natives’ academy after joining the Blues in 2007. Yet he only managed two senior outings before departing.

Both of the centre-half’s appearances also came in the EFL Cup, but his stock has rocketed since an £18m transfer to Selhurst Park last July. He is now an established Premier League talent following 36 games. Gareth Southgate also gave Guehi his England debut in March.

Tottenham are interested in Guehi transfer a year after joining Crystal Palace

Guehi has stood out at Selhurst Park with a string of robust performances under Patrick Vieira. Top-flight strikers have frequently struggled to beat the Ivory Coast-born enforcer, either on the ground or in the air with the youngster able to take command in most duels.

Opposition goalkeepers have also needed to be alert to Guehi’s attacking threat this term, too. The defender has frequently forced saves with his powerful headers, imposing himself at set-pieces for two Premier League goals in 2021/22. His passing is also often pin-point.

Now, Tottenham are interested in signing Guehi from Crystal Palace this summer, only one year after Chelsea sold the defender. That’s according to the Daily Mail, who note Antonio Conte is eager to add a left-sided centre-half as he strives to build a side able to win titles.

Guehi joining Tottenham after impressing at Crystal Palace to earn Conte’s interest would surely make Chelsea rue letting him go. Any deal for the defender to join Spurs would also see Guehi join a clutch of stars to play for Spurs and the Blues in the Premier League-era…

Parker added Tottenham to list of London clubs like Guehi can amid interest

Scott Parker added Tottenham to the list of London clubs on his CV in 2011 after leaving West Ham United in a £5m transfer. The midfielder departed west London for north after handing in a transfer request after the Irons suffered relegation from the Premier League.

He would spend just two seasons at Spurs before moving on to another London side with Fulham in 2013 for £3m. Yet Parker’s Tottenham career was much more productive than his spell with Chelsea, having managed 63 appearances to his 29 while at Stamford Bridge.

Parker had joined the Blues from Charlton Athletic for £10m in January 2004 and remained in west London until joining Newcastle United in June 2005 for £6.5m. He may have joined Spurs that year instead, but The Guardian noted they refused to meet his salary demands.

Gallas switched north London rivals during 12-year career in the capital

Williams Gallas enjoyed a 12-year career in the English capital from 2001 to 2013 after the defender joined Chelsea from Marseille, before spells with north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham. He joined Spurs straight after leaving the Gunners in a free transfer in 2010.

The centre-half even took a pay cut compared to his Arsenal wage to join Tottenham with Harry Redknapp in charge. Even though Gallas snubbed accepting a lesser salary to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, where he served as captain between 2007 and 2008.

Gallas won three major titles with Chelsea, too, with two Premier League titles and an EFL Cup triumph. He would not enjoy any silverware with Arsenal or Tottenham, while failing to eclipse his 225 Blues appearances with 142 and 78 respectively across all competitions.

Guehi may now follow Gallas’ lead in joining Tottenham after spending a spell of his career away from Chelsea, amid Conte’s interest in signing the defender from Crystal Palace now.

Conte may hope for reverse Gudjohnsen amid Tottenham interest in Guehi

Eidur Gudjohnsen made a return to the English top-flight with Tottenham four years after leaving Chelsea for Barcelona. The Iceland icon joined Spurs on loan from Monaco for the second half of the 2009/10 season, having flopped in Ligue 1 upon leaving the Camp Nou.

Tottenham did not elect to retain Gudjohnsen before he joined Stoke City having only hit one goal in 11 Premier League games. He similarly struggled in the Principality after failing to score at all in nine Ligue 1 outings. Far from his 54 in 185 league outings for the Blues.

Gudjohnsen additionally helped fire Chelsea to their first and second Premier League titles in 2004/05 and ‘05/06. He went on to win the Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey in 2008/09 with Barcelona after leaving Stamford Bridge for Spain in an £8.2m transfer.

Conte may hope Guehi produces an almost reverse record amid his interest in Tottenham now raiding Crystal Palace this summer. The defender did not achieve great heights with Chelsea, unlike Gudjohnsen – who went on to struggle during his brief spell with Spurs.

Cudicini made direct step from Chelsea to Tottenham in 2009

Carlo Cudicini made a direct step from west to north London in 2009 when the goalkeeper left Chelsea for Tottenham. Redknapp sought to sign the then-35-year-old in a free swoop in the January market to strengthen his options after releasing Cesar Sanchez that month.

The Italian would remain with Spurs until 2013, yet only made 37 appearances across all competitions. He also only emerged as the first-choice at White Hart Lane in the opening months of the ‘09/10 term before a motorbike crash fractured both his wrests and pelvis.

Cudicini had been the number one at Stamford Bridge for the first four years of his decade with the Blues. He initially arrived in England on loan from Castel Di Sangro in 1999 before completing a permanent transfer. But the arrival of Petr Cech saw him fall out of favour.

Chelsea swooped to sign Sullivan as Spurs released shot-stopper in 2003

Tottenham allowed Neil Sullivan to leave north London in a free transfer and join Chelsea in the summer of 2003. The goalkeeper had found chances limited in north London under Glenn Hoddle, who favoured Kasey Keller. And he was not the Blues’ first-choice, either.

Sullivan joined the Blues and offered depth behind Cudicini for one season before joining Leeds United. He only played eight times for Chelsea, as well, and would eclipse his 79 for Tottenham with 110 games for the Whites before playing 217 times for Doncaster Rovers.

Hoddle raided Stamford Bridge to make Poyet his second Spurs signing in 2001

Hoddle set about changing the philosophy at Tottenham after replacing George Graham in charge by signing proven players for Spurs. His first act in charge saw the north Londoners re-sign Teddy Sheringham after four years at Manchester United and then add Gus Poyet.

Tottenham struck a £1m deal with Chelsea for a 33-year-old Poyet in June 2001 after four seasons at the Bridge. The Uruguayan had fallen to the bench during his final year with the Blues. But he left with winners’ medals from the FA Cup and European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Poyet would see out all three years of his contract at Tottenham before retiring in 2004. He did not win any trophies with Spurs across 98 appearances for 23 goals and four assists, though. The midfielder hit home 45 and created six in 143 games while at Stamford Bridge.

Conte would hope to see Guehi have a big impact at Tottenham more akin to Parker than Gallas or Gudjohnsen amid his interest in Tottenham potentially buying the former Chelsea talent from Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window to build a title-worthy side.
