Inter’s Colombian star Fredy Guarin is on the verge of renewing his contract despite nearly joining Juventus in January.
Fredy Guarin all but signed for Juventus in January but now he looks set to put pen to paper on a contract extension at Inter.
The talented midfielder was a target for Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United before Juventus emerged as favourites to sign him in the winter window.
The two clubs had more or less agreed a deal that would have seen Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic move in the other direction.
But at the 11th hour Inter owner Erick Thohir pulled the plug and Guarin was left to return to training with the Nerazzurri.
The website reports that Guarin has committed until 2017 and will see his salary increase to around £3m per year.
Sportmediaset believes that Guarin has been convinced to stay by the show of faith from the club and by encouragement from coach Walter Mazzarri.
It remains to be seen whether any of Europe’s major sides still attempt to lure Guarin in the summer.
