Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin had a shocking game against FK Qarabag last night but that wasn’t why he issued an apology to a fan.
It was not a great night for Fredy Guarin as he played poorly against Qarabag and limped off just after the hour mark.
Tottenham have been linked with the Colombian international on many occasions but the North London side may be relieved they didn’t get him on the basis of his performance at San Siro.
Inter came through 2-0 against their less illustrious opponents, but Guarin was jeered by sections of the support after some uncharacteristically shoddy passages of play.
“I want to say sorry to one of the fans who told me to wake up,” Guarin said.
“I gave him a dirty look, but it was just in the heat of the moment.”
“It might not have been the greatest spectacle but at the end of the day, we won. We showed bags of character and desire.”
While some Inter fans carry a grudge against Guarin for his attempts to leave the club for rivals Juventus last January this gesture shows he still wants to be liked by the supporters.
