Guillem Balague has claimed on Twitter that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola thought that Cristiano Ronaldo would score more than 40 goals a season for his side had not he joined Manchester United.

Ronaldo returned to United from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Balague has claimed on Twitter that the Portugal international forward was set on a move to Guardiola’s City.

Balague has explained why the 36-year-old former Real Madrid star eventually joined United instead of their city-rivals and defending Premier League champions City.

Big miss for Manchester City

Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers of all time and is a living legend.

The Portugal international remains at the top of his game and is still banging in the goals for fun.

Ronaldo, as we all know by now, is a goal machine.

The former Madrid star would have been City so potent and threatening in attack.

Remember, City also failed to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.

Sergio Aguero left the Citizens for Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

City will now have to rely on Gabriel Jesus and winger-turned-striker Ferran Torres to score goals playing upfront.
