Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly on the verge of completing one of the surprising deals of the summer with Joe Hart closing in on a move to the club.

BBC Sport have reported that Hart will join Spurs on a free transfer after he was released by Burnley.

From being England’s number one to now being number two at club level, it has gone downhill for Hart ever since Pep Guardiola dethroned him from the main goalkeeping jersey at Manchester City.

When Hart was set to leave the Etihad Stadium in 2018, Guardiola was full of praise for the player despite opting to part ways with him.

The former Barcelona midfielder claimed, at the time, that ‘nobody’ can doubt the qualities of the Englishmen.

“Despite the decision nobody can doubt Joe’s quality as a goalkeeper or what he has done in the last 10 to 12 years,” Guardiola told BBC Sport as Hart was heading for the exit doors.

He even told the Telegraph after Hart left that he might come back to haunt him and he may have got it ‘wrong’ in regards to letting him leave – that seems unlikely now, but with this potential Spurs move, you never know.

In recent years, not many players have stagnated like Hart, who will be hoping to add some much-needed relief and life back into his career.

It seems as though he will play second fiddle to Hugo Lloris, but with Spurs set to compete in the Europa League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup next term – it does open up many chances for Hart to earn game time and prove himself once more.

Many feel that ever since Hart was dumped by Guardiola in a pretty brutal fashion, he hasn’t been the same, nor recovered.

He went out on-loan to Serie A but returned after one season before he struggled at West Ham and then found himself on the bench at Burnley.

This does seem like a last chance for Hart in regards to his Premier League career because if it goes wrong here then there might just be no way back.
