Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed Liverpool as ‘one of the best teams’ he has ever seen in his latest comments to the Guardian.
Liverpool were beaten 4-1 by City, with Guardiola’s side moving 10 points clear of them in the Premier League table.
However, Guardiola’s side’s victory at Anfield has not changed his opinion of Liverpool.
And the City boss insists that Jurgen Klopp’s men are still a massively strong side.
“Sport shows how quickly it can punish you,” he said. “Liverpool remains, in my point of view, one of the best teams I’ve ever seen in my life. They were able to make an incredible run of 68 games at home unbeaten, destroying teams, winning by a big margin or winning in the last minute, for two or three seasons without one defeat.
“And immediately, and you don’t know why, three games in a row defeat. Do you think that cannot happen to us? Of course it can happen.”
Liverpool will need City to come unstuck if they are to have any chance of clawing their way back into title contention.

In truth the Reds’ chances of defending their crown do appear to be over, as they just haven’t been able to hit their top form this season.
Liverpool have suffered badly with injuries and their players have understandably begun to look tired after three years of brilliance.
Liverpool are next in action at the weekend, when they face yet another difficult game against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
