Manchester City face Everton this weekend.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu is a special player and one of the best in the world in one-on-one situations, the club’s official website report.
City face Everton this weekend and much has been made of former Barcelona teammates Guardiola and Ronald Koeman, yet another name with a link to the City chief is winger Deulofeu.
The one-time capped Spain international began his career at Barcelona and was handed his official La Liga debut at the club under then-boss Guardiola, before going on to join Everton on loan.
Deulofeu joined the Toffees permanently in the summer of 2015 and has made five Premier League appearances so far this term, though making just two starts.
The 22-year-old is in contention to start against City this weekend, and opposing boss Guardiola believes the former Barcelona man is one of the best talents around with the ball at his feet.
“He’s one of the best talents I’ve seen in one to one (situations), some people criticise him because of his lack of defence but he has gone a step ahead and he’s a special player, Guardiola told ManCity.com.
City will be looking to get back to winning ways following their defeat at Tottenham Hotspur last time out, while Everton head in to the match having picked up just one point from their last two games.
Deulofeu, a Europa League winner while on loan at Sevilla, has his whole career ahead of him, though he will not be satisfied with a part-role at Everton and will need to show more to nail down a regular spot.
