Pep Guardiola has admitted Toni Kroos’ future is beyond his control.
Pep Guardiola has sensationally and rather unusually admitted keeping Toni Kroos at Bayern Munich is beyond his control.
He told reporters on Tuesday, reported ESPN: “[Rummenigge and Sammer] will do everything to keep Toni here. But it is up to Toni. He is a young person, it is his decision.”
It’s a strange admission for the manager to make, when it comes to one of his star players.
Especially when the perception of Guardiola via his teams, is that he likes to have every single little detail under his control.
It’s perhaps a sign of the growing speculation that Kroos is leaning towards a switch to Manchester, attempting to distance himself from the negotiations.
Bayern just this month stated that Kroos was not for sale and they wanted him to remain with the club next season despite his contract running out in June 2015.
Guardiola’s comments hint that it is not the club who have total control, but in fact the player.
This again indicates that the Red Devils will be successful in bidding for the player if they offer highly enough, with the spectre of financial fair play and Bayern not wanting to risk losing an asset for free.
