Tim Sherwood told Sky Sports News (06/04/21 at 2:15 pm) that West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has ‘grown on me like beyond belief’.

West Ham did receive some bad news after the international break when their star man came back injured and he is now set to miss four weeks of action, according to BBC Sport.

It is a body blow for West Ham, but judging by their performance against Wolves on Monday night, they aren’t missing him too much just yet.

Former Premier League boss, Sherwood, shared that he is loving Rice as a player and what the midfield powerhouse brings to the team.

“Declan Rice has grown on me like beyond belief,” said Sherwood. “I think he’s so important for them.

“Hopefully for West Ham, the fans and David Moyes it’s not going to show up too much (his injury).

“I think he’s so important in what they do. He puts out fires. He sets them off on attacks. And he gives that midfield, along with Soucek, a fantastic balance. So, they are going to miss him.”

This is actually a good test for the Hammers and a situation that will make them stronger if they can pull through it.

If they can continue picking up the points and maintain their current top-four status by the time Rice returns then it will say a lot about the team going forward.

It has been a remarkable season for those in East London, and when they were beaten by Newcastle on the opening day, not many expected David Moyes to guide them down such a road.
