Outside of Tottenham Hotspur fans, Erik Lamela isn’t the sport’s most popular player at the moment.

The Argentine winger was involved in a controversial incident which led to Anthony Martial being sent off for Manchester United during Spurs’ demolition of the Red Devils at Old Trafford today.

Lamela went to ground on 28 minutes after Martial brushed his chin with a hand.

It looked a tad over dramatic on behalf of the Tottenham star and he’s being widely slated on social media for the theatrics.

One voice of condemnation has come from Trevor Sinclair, who has told the player on Twitter to ‘grow a pair’.

It was certainly a bit naughty from the former Roma star who, if we’re honest, could have very easily been sent off himself for the physical gesture which provoked Martial in the first place.

Then again, Tottenham have seen quite a few decisions go against them this season and no doubt that’ll be Jose Mourinho’s first port of call when he’s quizzed on the matter.
