Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic signed Odsonne Edouard on a permanent contract from Paris Saint-Germain last month.
Last month, Celtic made the loan deal of Edouard on a permanent deal from French giants PSG.
The 20-year-old forward spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan at the Hoops from PSG.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic paid the Ligue 1 giants a transfer fee of £10 million in order to secure the services of the former France Under-19 international.
Celtic striker Griffiths, who earns £18,000 per week as salary according to The Daily Star, has (jokingly) revealed his reaction when he heard the news about the Edouard deal.
The Scotland international told The Scottish Sun: “What was my reaction when Odsonne signed? You couldn’t publish it! Was it, ‘Oh dear?’ Well, words to that effect.
“But, no, that’s purely from a selfish perspective. You want to play as many games as you can. From a team point of view, it’s great that we can bring in that kind of quality player.”
Stiff competition
Griffiths will find it tough next season, with Moussa Dembele and Edouard both fighting for a place in the Celtic starting lineup.
However, the 27-year-old former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker has shown time and time again that he can overcome competition, and given his obvious quality, the former Livingston and Dundee star should be confident of playing regular for the Hoops next season.
