Formerr Rangers loanee Gregory Vignal has revealed his desire to make a shock return to Ibrox.
Former Rangers defender Gregory Vignal has told The Scottish Sun that he would love to return to Ibrox as the club’s manager one day.
Vignal, 35, has been without a club since leaving AS Beziers in his native France in 2014, and has now looked back on his career, including his short spell at Rangers.
Whilst the left back had spells with the likes of Rennes, Espanyol, Portsmouth, Lens, Southampton, Birmingham City and Dundee United, he is undoubtedly best remembered for his time at Liverpool and then Rangers.

After joining Liverpool from Montpellier in 2000, Vignal was a bit-part figure at Anfield, making just 11 league appearances before heading out on loan to Rangers for the duration of the 2004/05 season.
With 42 appearances for Rangers, Vignal played regular first-team football at Ibrox, and helped the Gers – then managed by Alex McLeish – win the Scottish Premier League title and the Scottish League Cup.

Vignal couldn’t seal a permanent move to Ibrox, but did later return to Scotland with Dundee United – and has now revealed his love for Rangers.
Speaking to The Scottish Sun, Vignal described his year on loan at Ibrox as ‘magnificent’, and compared life at Rangers to the ‘family’ at Liverpool; two huge clubs with famed fan bases.
Vignal also revealed that he wants to return as Rangers manager one day, and whilst he acknowledged that things ‘went wrong’ in the recent 5-1 defeat to Celtic, he thins Rangers are on their way back to their former glories.

“I had a magnificent year at Rangers,” said Vignal. “I loved the city, the club, the great supporters and I made good friends. I discovered a family like I had known at Liverpool. And when you win trophies and score in a derby, it creates feelings that you really need to experience to believe. I still have friends there, I went back to visit last year.”
“The club has just come back up to the top league so it will take time. You’re going to have to find the right people. It’s still a big club, which wants to regain its place. It’s hard to see a club for which we gave everything fall so low, because it’s a club I love. When the club came back up, I was really happy. It went wrong in the Old Firm games, but it takes time to rebuild. A big club never dies. If I ever have the opportunity, it’s a club I would really want to manage,” he added.
