Greg Taylor knows he has his work cut out at Celtic

Greg Taylor joined Neil Lennon’s Celtic in the summer transfer window.

Celtic left-back Greg Taylor has told Celtic View (Page 23, Volume 55, Issue 10) that he knows that he has to work hard to get into the team.

The Hoops signed Taylor from Scottish Premiership rivals Kilmarnock on transfer deadline day for a fee reported by The Herald to be worth £3 million.

The 21-year-old has arrived at the Hoops with a strong reputation and with a lot of experience playing in Scotland for Kilmanock.

The Scotland international is aware that he has his work cut out at Celtic and will have to earn his place in the starting lineup.

Taylor told Celtic View (Page 23, Volume 55, Issue 10): “Competition improves every player and there are other players here. I’m not daft enough to think I’m walking into a jersey. It’s up to me to earn the right to get that jersey and I hope to do that.

“This move can help me raise my level and hopefully that helps on the international scene as well. I’ve been in a more defensive team in Kilmarnock and I would like to think that I have learned my trade well.

“But I’m going to a team now that sees more of the ball in attack than Kilmarnock. You get more of the ball here so it’s up to me to show that part of my game as well.”

Competition with Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo

Taylor has been signed by Celtic to compete with Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo for the left-back spot, and it will be interesting to see who wins the battle in the coming weeks and months.

Bolingoli-Mbombo did not start his career at Celtic strongly, but the 24-year-old left-back has done well in recent matches and produced a very encouraging display against Rangers at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby.
