Dundee talisman Greg Stewart was linked with Rangers last summer – but he’s hardly set the world alight since moving to Birmingham City instead.

37-year-old Kenny Miller may be the only player in Rangers squad to have double figures in goals next to his name this season but that does not mean the club will be enduring too many sleepless nights thinking about their failure to lure Greg Stewart to Ibrox.
The Scottish Sun reported last year that Rangers had made an approach in January and had also plotted a bid in the summer. And why not? Stewart was in outstanding form for Dundee the season prior, netting 15 goals from out wide and earning a nomination for the league’s Player of the Season award.
Therefore, the Ibrox giants would surely have been disappointed when the former Cowdenbeath youngster agreed a £1 million deal with Championship side Birmingham City instead, as reported by The Evening Telegraph.
However, it’s fair to say he is yet to cast his spell over St Andrews. In 21 league appearances in his debut season, Stewart failed to score a single goal.

Despite working under three different managers, Gary Rowett, Gianfranco Zola and Harry Redknapp, it seems the 27-year-old failed to convince either of them that he was worth a regular place in the starting XI.
Consequently, it would be no surprise if he was on the move again this summer. His superb performances for Dundee suggests that, if Rangers were to renew their interest, Stewart could recapture the form that made him one of the league’s most thrilling attackers.

However, after the most turbulent season of his career, they may think twice.
