Glasgow Rangers won their latest training game, with Sheyi Ojo and Greg Docherty getting on the scoresheet for the Ibrox side.

Rangers rounded off their training camp in Portugal with a solid 2-0 victory over Mansfield Town, with new signing Sheyi Ojo and Greg Docherty getting on the scoresheet in a game in which Steven Gerrard fielded 30 different players.
Gerrard’s ability to play so many players highlights how much depth Rangers currently have in their ranks, so those who are not established first-team players will know how important it is that they stand out in the coming weeks ahead of the new season.
Docherty is one of those men who appears to go into this pre-season in an uncertain position. He enjoyed an outstanding spell away from Ibrox last term, but he is battling for a place in the team where Rangers arguably have the most depth.
The Gers youngster has the potential to secure a prominent role next term with his pre-season form. But similarly, it does not seem out of the question for the 22-year-old to get somewhat lost in the shuffle once again given that Gerrard has already once decided that he would be better off leaving on loan.

So that is why the former Hamilton man’s goal against the League Two side in Portugal could actually be quite a statement despite the importance of the game.
All of Rangers’ summer signings featured in the fixture. Ojo scored, but Docherty has joined the winger in grabbing the headlines by getting his goal with a well-taken finish in the latter stages.
It is a goal that will mean little if he does not follow it up in the coming games. But given that Docherty would be forgiven for feeling that he needs to enjoy a very good pre-season to ensure that he stands out, his goal appears to be a very promising way to start what could be a crucial summer for the fan favourite.
