Greg Docherty suggests why Rangers couldn’t take numerical advantage

Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers lost the Old Firm derby at Ibrox at the weekend.

Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty has admitted that he and his teammates stopped moving the ball as quickly as they have been when Celtic went down to 10 men in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox at the weekend, as quoted by The Scotsman.

Graeme Murty’s side lost 3-2 to Celtic at home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

The Gers took the lead twice, but Brendan Rodgers’s side came back on both occasions and scored the winner in the 69th minute.

Celtic were reduced to 10 men in the 57th minute when Jozo Simunovic was shown a straight red card.

Rangers midfielder Docherty, who joined the Ibrox club from Hamilton Academical in the January transfer window for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £600,000, has suggested why the Gers failed to make the most of their numerical advantage.

The Scotsman quotes Docherty as saying: “When Celtic went down to ten men, for some reason we stopped moving the ball as quickly. We’ll need to look back at that and see why it was.”

Rangers must be bitterly disappointed with the result in the Old Firm derby as they took the lead twice, but it is time for the players and the fans to move on and look ahead to the upcoming matches.
