Glasgow Rangers defender Ross McCrorie skippered his country on Thursday night, and his Ibrox teammate congratulated the youngster on social media.

Greg Docherty has sent Rangers teammate Ross McCrorie a message on Twitter after the youngster was awarded the captain’s armband for Scotland’s under-21 clash with Andorra on Thursday night.
The Scots put out an incredibly strong team for the European Championship qualifier against the group’s bottom side, with former Gers pair David Bates and Billy Gilmour featuring in the starting lineup.
But it was McCrorie who was made skipper for the game. And that prompted Docherty – who is spending the season away from Ibrox, having joined Shrewsbury on loan – to take to social media to congratulate his Light Blues teammate…
Being given the captaincy may provide McCrorie with a major boost. Steven Gerrard has made no secret of how highly he rates the youngster, and he has backed them up by handing him plenty of game-time in the early stages of this campaign.

Nevertheless, the recognition on the international stage is another reminder that he is a huge talent that could have a massive impact on Rangers on and off the pitch in the future.
He is showing signs of being a leader – he has never been afraid to criticise his senior teammates if necessary – and it may not be too long before Gerrard considers handing him the chance to lead Rangers out.
