Glasgow Rangers new boy Greg Docherty has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he finds it strange playing for the Ibrox side.

Docherty has grown up supporting Rangers, and he was given a chance to represent his boyhood side last month.

Rangers snapped up the 21-year-old midfielder from Hamilton, and he has made a hugely impressive start to life with Graeme Murty’s side.

Docherty has forced his way into Rangers’ starting line-up already, with his partnership alongside Sean Goss catching the eye.

But Docherty admits that he is still adjusting to representing Rangers.

He said: “It is huge but a bit strange to be honest with you and still weird for me. But I am loving it and relishing it every day.

“I am going into work every day and it is a new challenge. I am going to treat every day like it is my last and treat every day like it is a cup final.

“That is what I am doing and I want to do my best for this club. Consistency is massive for me and I am looking to get that.”

Docherty looks like he could turn into a real bargain buy for Rangers, if he keeps his current levels of performance up.

The youngster has won five of his first six matches for Rangers, with Murty’s side’s form starting to put pressure on Celtic at the top of the league.

Rangers are now within six points of the Bhoys, with the Old-Firm derby scheduled for three weekends’ time.
