Glasgow Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty will spend the rest of this season away from Ibrox having sealed a loan deal.

Greg Docherty has taken to Twitter to suggest that he is overwhelmed by the reaction that he has received from Rangers fans since sealing a loan move away from Ibrox for the coming campaign.
Docherty only joined the Gers during the most recent January window, and performed well during the second-half of last season. There were certainly times when it appeared that he was going to prove to be a masterstroke signing for the Light Blues.
It was clear however, following Steven Gerrard’s first few months at the helm at Ibrox that Docherty could be in for a frustrating season had he stayed at Ibrox this term. A number of central midfielders were brought in, and he faced further competition with the likes of Ryan Jack returning from a long-term injury, while Graham Dorrans and Jordan Rossiter could add to Gerrard’s selection headache in the future.
And perhaps sensing that he was going to struggle for game-time, he completed a loan move to League One side Shrewsbury earlier this week.

There will be plenty of supporters hoping that the 21-year-old enjoys a superb year with the Shrews and stakes a real claim to Gerrard ahead of his return next summer. And there have clearly been many members of the Ibrox faithful who have reached out to Docherty on social media.
The young midfielder has taken to Twitter to comment on his move and express his gratitude to the Rangers fans for their response to his loan exit.
