Tottenham have one serious talent on their hands.
It’s not Harry Kane, it’s not Heung-Min Son, it’s not Tanguy Ndombele, but it’s the underappreciated, Joe Rodon.
On Tuesday night, Rodon received rave reviews as the Tottenham defender produced a Maldini-Esque performance to help Wales record a valuable 1-0 win against the Czech Republic in their World Cup qualifier.
Tottenham’s £11 million summer signing (BBC Sport) was immense throughout the game, as a number of Welsh fans waxed-lyrical about their rising star.
With the Czech’s chasing an equaliser in stoppage-time, Rodon left supporters jaws on the floor with an incredible match-saving block.
Following a low cross into Wales’ penalty area, the ball fell into the path of Ondrej Celustka, who was destined to score, but Rodon remained calm, composed, read the situation well and technically executed a well-timed block at point-blank range.
Even the Czech Republic players were left stunned by what they saw.
Either way, it was an incredible night for Rodon and he is sending clear messages that he needs to start regularly for Jose Mourinho.
Here is a selection of fans reacting to Rodon’s performance for Wales last night:
