Speculation is mounting that Newcastle United could potentially sign Aaron Ramsey in January.
The relegation-threatened Magpies are in serious trouble this season, languishing in 19th in the Premier League standings.
Reinforcements during the transfer window is absolutely essential.
According to Calciomercato, Newcastle have decided to pay for out-of-favour midfielder Ramsey, with the player earning £400,000 per week at Juventus – a wage that the Italian club are ‘happy’ to offload from their bill.
With the transfer fee and salary, the former Arsenal player represents a huge investment by the St James’s Park club.
But with his experience in the Premier League and knack for scoring goals, Jack Wilshere, who played with him at the Emirates Stadium, has claimed that he would be a ‘great signing’ for Newcastle.
He told talkSPORT: “He would be a great signing for them. It’s a massive club, Newcastle. He brings you goals from midfield. [He can go to a] big club, who are potentially going to be even bigger in the next four/five years.”
Cracking addition
What a blinder of a signing this would be by Saudi Public Investment Fund and, with a fortune of £320 billion, they can afford it.
We’re talking about a player who won three FA Cups at Arsenal, scoring the winning goal in two finals.
In addition to that, 40 goals and 46 assists for the Gunners in the Premier League illustrates that he can certainly be an asset for Newcastle in their relegation battle.
Turning 31 on Boxing Day, Ramsey’s prime years are coming to an end, and he’ll undeniably lost some speed compared to his spell in North London, but pace was never a massive part of his game to begin with and therefore, being less quick isn’t detrimental.
