Jamie Carragher has stated that he feels the signings Arsenal have made this summer are ‘really good’ and he thinks the Gabriel Jesus capture is ‘great’, as he told Football Daily.

There has been a positive feel to Arsenal this summer, it has showcased itself in pre-season, with Carragher lauding their 4-0 win over Chelsea as ‘pretty impressive’ despite it being an unofficial game.

Mikel Arteta’s side won every game in pre-season, including putting six goals past La Liga outfit, Sevilla, at the Emirates on Saturday ahead of their Premier League opener on Friday.

The results don’t matter because it’s not going to provide them with three points at Crystal Palace, but the feel-good factor and preparations have been of the highest standard.

Carragher touched upon Arsenal’s summer transfers and how they have run riot in pre-season, with their new faces playing a part.

“I think the signings Arsenal have got are really good,” said Carragher. “But I just think Zinchenko coming in. Tierney is always injury-prone, so you have to bring someone in there.

“I think Jesus is a great signing. Look what Arsenal have done in pre-season. I know it’s pre-season games, but to beat Chelsea by that scoreline was pretty impressive.”

JESUS TO PLAY A CENTRAL ROLE

At Manchester City, Jesus was used mainly on the right side by Pep Guardiola, but he was used across the front three during that time.

Even if he played a central role, the Brazil star still wasn’t a key figure in the XI when the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden are in the same team.

But it’s going to be a different story at the Emirates because he is going to be the heartbeat of Arsenal’s team and there is a lot more pressure on his shoulders.

Jesus will be expected to be the club’s main threat – his best record is 14 Premier League goals in one season – and that’s something he will have to surpass ahead of the new campaign.
