Speaking on the Pitch Side Podcast, Andy Robertson has been building his dream five-a-side team made up of Liverpool players.

The Reds are blessed with some of world football’s most talented players, and there is a huge pool of stars to choose from.

However, the Scot made something of a surprise pick in his midfield.

Indeed, the left-back chose Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to partner Thiago ahead of the likes of Naby Keita, Harvey Elliott, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is very much a fringe player at Liverpool these days, playing just 30 minutes of Premier League action this season, so this selection does come as something of a surprise.

Robertson was questioned on his choice, and he says that he’s choosing Oxlade-Chamberlain due to his fantastic shooting ability.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s shooting praised

Robertson spoke about the England international making his team.

“In midfield I would go with Thiago and I would go with Ox,” Robertson said.

“Really?” The co-host replied.

“Yep, his footwork and he’s a great shooter of the ball, a great shooter,” Robertson concluded.

Rocket of a shot

It’s a been while since we’ve seen Oxlade-Chamberlain at his best, but let’s not forget, when he’s in full flow, he does have a rocket of a shot.

The most memorable example of this is surely his goal against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals back in 2017/18 where he almost ripped the net off with a blockbuster strike from 25 yards.

The Englishman must pull off goals like that in training all the time as Robertson couldn’t help but hail the midfielder’s ability to shoot the ball, which is a very handy attribute to have in five-a-side.

Fingers crossed the midfielder can get back to his best, because he is a unique weapon when used correctly.
