Speaking on the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily Podcast, Robert Snodgrass has been discussing the Scotland squad and loaned-out Leeds man Barry Douglas.
Scotland of course have tremendous depth at left-back with the likes of Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson playing for two of the biggest teams in the Premier League.
However, in any other generation, Douglas would be one of Scotland’s main men, and Snodgrass believes that the left-back is an incredible set-piece taker and a great defender who is unlucky to miss out on an international nod.
“Barry Douglas, that’s another one. He’s had promotions and he can’t even get in the team. He’s another great left-back, when you talk about set-pieces and dead-ball situations, he’s incredible,” Snodgrass.
Scotland have had some great set-piece takers over the years, with Snodgrass and Douglas being two absolutely fantastic left-footers.

The pair both also of course have links to Leeds United, with Snodgrass turning out for the Whites almost a decade ago, while Douglas is still on the books at Leeds to this day, playing this season out on loan at Blackburn.
Sadly, despite the fact Snodgrass seemingly rates Douglas very highly, the left-back’s days at Elland Road appear to be numbered. He’s out of contract this summer, and it seems very likely that he’s already played his final game for the Yorkshire club.
Douglas’ next step remains to be seen, but sadly for the former Wolves man, he won’t be going to the Euros with Scotland this summer.
