Brian Laudrup has told the Daily Mail that he believes Glasgow Rangers winger Ryan Kent has huge potential.
Laudrup, who played for Rangers between 1994-1998, has kept a keen eye on goings on at Ibrox ever since.
And he feels that Kent could become a key player for Steven Gerrard’s side this season, after he scored in Rangers’ opening league win of the campaign.
“I have to say I think Kent has great potential,” Laudrup said.
“I watched a number of his games last season and I know that some fans gave him a bit of stick at times because they expected more than they maybe saw after his £7million move from Liverpool last September.
“The price tag brought expectation on its own, of course, but I think as much of it comes from the Rangers fans knowing exactly what Kent is capable of producing when he is at his best.
“We have to remember that he is still relatively young at 23. I mean young not only in terms of age, but in that he hasn’t been involved at a high level of competition for a long time in his career.”
Kent contributed with eight goals and four assists for Rangers last term, which represent a credible return.
There is a feeling that the 23-year-old has not quite reached his top level yet, and it could be that there is more to come from the Oldham-born winger this campaign.
Kent has certainly started the term in an auspicious fashion, as he netted the winner against Aberdeen at the weekend.
Kent produced a tidy finish, as Rangers won 1-0 to get their campaign off to a winning start.
Rangers and Kent will next be in action on Sunday when they take on St. Mirren.
