Roberto Firmino has been tasked with creating his dream five-a-side team when speaking on Liverpool’s official YouTube channel.
The Brazilian had to name five players he believes would be the best in a small-sided game, and there are no prizes for guessing who he chose to play between the sticks.
Firmino has played alongside the likes of Ederson, Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius in the past, but his goalkeeper in his so-called dream team is understandably Alisson Becker.
The Liverpool ace had nothing but good things to say about Alisson, claiming that it is a pleasure to work alongside his fellow countryman.
What’s been said?
Firmino was full of praise for the goalkeeper.
“So the first one is Alisson Becker. He is a friend of mine it is a pleasure to play with him. He is a great player and a great person and he’s the first one on my list,” Firmino said.
Obvious choice
Well, Firmino was hardly going to choose any other goalkeeper in his five-a-side team, was he?
In a five-a-side game, you need to have quick feet and an abundant amount of skill, and while Alisson is a goalkeeper, he’s one of the best in the world with the ball at his feet.
Yes, Firmino could’ve chosen his fellow Brazil teammate Ederson, but when it comes to short passing in small spaces, Alisson is the superior goalkeeper.
Ederson is much better when it comes to long-range passing, but that isn’t really a skill that you would highlight as a necessity in a small-sided game like this.
The striker is absolutely right to choose Alisson in this team, and as he says, the stopper is a great player.
