Leeds United powerhouse Diego Llorente has told Marca that he believes Martin Odegaard will be leaving Arsenal to return to Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.
Odegaard joined Arsenal on a half-season loan from the Spanish giants in January and has proven himself a revelation under Mikel Arteta.
Naturally, there is talk about the Norway international staying in North London for the long term and that the player himself – valued at £40 million [Eurosport]- is reportedly keen to stay in the Premier League.
Llorente, who joined Leeds last summer, played alongside Odegaard during his loan at Real Sociedad over the past two seasons.
And the Spanish defender believes that the Santiago Bernabeu is where the playmaker’ heart really lies.
He said: “Now he is making progress at Arsenal but I think he will come back and will be able to show what a great player he is [in Spain].”
Arsenal’s pursuit of a permanent move is complicated now by the fact that they quit the European Super League, which was fronted by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
The Blancos’ chief will be livid with all six Premier League clubs who backed out of the ESL earlier this week and therefore he may not be receptive toward doing business with the Emirates Stadium club.
