Ibrahim Sangare has labelled Liverpool transfer target Cody Gakpo a ‘great player’ on Instagram after the Netherlands were knocked out of the Qatar World Cup.
The PSV winger was a much-talked-about figure going into the tournament and he didn’t disappoint by scoring three goals during the group stages.
It ended in heartache for Louis van Gaal’s side because a fiery encounter against Argentina, which saw them beaten on penalties, resulted in them packing their bags home at the quarter-final stages.

It was a game full of drama, madness, clashes, yellow cards galore, a referee that lost the plot, goals, a last-minute equaliser and penalties.
Whilst the Dutch will feel disappointed by that defeat, they have a young squad and they should hold their head high.
Gakpo is one of those players and when he made sure that his current dream is ‘unfinished’, he was praised in the comments section by his teammates, including Sangare, Justin Timber and Tyrell Malacia.
LIVERPOOL’S INTEREST IN GAKPO
Jurgen Klopp will be looking to refresh his squad during the next two transfer windows and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they knock on Gakpo’s door.
The player is wanted by those on Merseyside, but perhaps he’s not a priority given that there are other areas of the pitch that need sorting first before another forward can be added.
Either way, the price tag on his head would have increased, no more so because of his performances in Qatar and now the stream of clubs that will be battling it out for his signature.
