Liam Henderson was sold for just £115k during Brendan Rodgers’ spell in charge of Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.

Eighteen months ago, Celtic sold talented young midfielder Liam Henderson to Bari for just £115,000.

Clearly, Brendan Rodgers didn’t fancy the fresh-faced academy graduate, accepting a cut-price fee after handing him just 11 Scottish Premiership appearances during the previous year and a half (Daily Record).

But while Rodgers obviously didn’t feel that Henderson had the potential to make the grade at Parkhead, the 23-year-old’s performances over in Italy suggest this couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Livingston-born playmaker immediately looked at home in Bari and, just a few months after joining, he was on his way again. Just 12 months into a four-year contract at Hellas Verona, Henderson has been promoted to Serie A after a stunning comeback against Cittadella in the play-offs.

No wonder he is overjoyed.

And while Celtic fans are united in pride as one of their own goes from strength to strength on the continent, Henderson’s joy is certainly a little bittersweet. Why did Celtic let him go? Why did they accept as little as £115,000?

How much is Henderson worth now? And is he about to prove himself in one of the biggest and best leagues in European football?

These are all questions on the mind of some rather baffled Celtic supporters.
