Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Illan Meslier has been discussing his initial move to England and settling in at Leeds.
Meslier arrived at Leeds as a teenager in a brand new country, and that’s a daunting task for anyone.
Luckily, Meslier has two players in the Leeds squad who were more than happy to help him settle in – Helder Costa and Ezgjan Alioski.
What’s been said?
Meslier was asked which players helped him settle at Leeds.
“It was Gjanni Alioski. He spoke French and Helder Costa also, they’re two great people who helped me out and they helped translate for me,” Mesller said.
The goalkeeper then touched on some of the differences between French football and the English game.
“Yeah, here we work a lot, a lot in the gym and the food as well, it was different on the field there is a lot of impact between the players too,” Meslier said.

Team spirit
It’s a shame that both Costa and Alioski aren’t at Leeds anymore, because it sounds as though they were both brilliant teammates.
Alioski has left on a permanent deal, while Costa has left on loan, and you have to wonder whether or not Leeds would have been better this season if they were both still at Elland Road.
Team spirit is one of the most important things for any side, especially one battling relegation, and Leeds lost a lot when Alioski and Costa departed.
