Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Paul Joyce of The Times provided an update on Roberto Firmino’s hamstring injury.
What’s the story?
Well, the 51-cap Brazil international was forced off during the first-half against Chelsea, as Diogo Jota replaced him in the 43rd minute.
Firmino felt an issue with his hamstring, which sparked concern around Anfield as Jürgen Klopp’s attack is already pretty thin.
Thankfully, Joyce has now eased fears with a positive update.
After an initial diagnosis, he believes Firmino’s injury is not as bad as first feared, which is welcome news for the Reds.
Joyce does, however, reveal that Liverpool’s No.9 needs to be assessed further, so the 29-year-old isn’t in the clear just yet.
Firmino has scored one goal in three Premier League games so far this season, and is a vital part of Klopp’s frontline.
Roberto Firmino injury comes at awful time for Liverpool

Now, this is a very delicate situation.
Today is transfer deadline day, so if Firmino’s injury does turn out to be more severe than first thought, Liverpool won’t be able to sign cover unless it happens now.
The timing is extremely inconvenient for the Reds.
In our view, the best option for Liverpool is to shortlist a potential option for cover, and try to complete another assessment on Firmino as soon as possible.

Then, if the £180,000-a-week man is out for a number of months, Michael Edwards can – hopefully – move quickly to sign a fresh face.
Whatever happens, it’s not exactly an ideal time for one of Liverpool’s most important players to be under assessment, to say the least.
For now, let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about Joyce’s update…
