Despite recent reports linking Julian Draxler with Bayern Munich, it appears Arsenal are still in the box-seat for his signature
For much of January Arsenal were linked with a move for Schalke play-maker Julian Draxler. In the end, they ended up with Kim Kallstrom.
And then the news got even worse, with Bayern Munich reportedly tipped for a summer swoop for the 20-year-old.
The Daily Mail was just one of many newspapers reporting this week that the German champions would make a huge bid for Draxler at the end of the current campaign. But perhaps Arsenal fans should not get too despondent just yet.
In a report published this afternoon by Sport Bild, Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies is quoted as saying of Draxler, “I do not think he wants Bayern. I can rule with one-hundred percent probability.”
Of course that is just one man’s feeling, but if Draxler really does not want a move to Pep Guardiola’s men, then it appears the Gunners may still be heading the queue for a young player who could be exactly what Arsene Wenger is looking for.
