Some Aston Villa fans on social media have been reacting to the news that Wesley is back in full-contact training.
The Brazilian striker has been out of action for 14 months at this point, but it seems as though he may be back on the pitch sooner rather than later.
The striker has been pictured in light training a number of times in recent weeks, but now Dean Smith has confirmed he’s back doing full-contact work.
This is obviously a huge step forward for the number nine, and as you can probably imagine, Villa fans were buzzing to hear he’s coming back to full fitness.
Villa have a severe lack of depth up front, which is probably why Ollie Watkins has played every single minute in the Premier League this term, but now that Wesley is back in contention, they will have another option should they wish to rotate Watkins.
Wesley bagged five goals for Aston Villa last term, and the Midlands club will be hoping that he can start finding the back of the net once again upon his return.
