Ian Holloway has claimed that it would be a ‘great move’ for West Ham United if they can land the talents of Southampton midfielder, James Ward-Prowse.

The former Premier League boss was told that West Ham are ‘odds-on favourites’ to sign the 27-year-old, as Holloway added that he is a ‘top player’, as he told talkSPORT.

Ward-Prowse signed a five-year contract at St Mary’s last summer, so if anyone wants to lure him away from St Mary’s, then they will probably have to pay serious money for his talents.

The Hammers are in Europe again, so they can attract Ward-Prowse to their club, but will they put the big-money on the table for his talents?

Well, only time will tell, as Holloway was excited at the possibility of the England international heading towards the London Stadium this summer.

“He’s a top player,” said Holloway. “A great move for him and a great move for West Ham if they get him.

“I think, with the greatest of respect to Southampton, if he was at one of these bigger clubs, then he would be in the England reckoning a lot more.”

WARD-PROWSE WOULD ELEVATE WEST HAM TEAM

David Moyes is trying to bring trophy glory to East London and they went on a pretty strong run in the Europa League last season, as well as knocking Manchester City out of the League Cup.

But they lacked that bite and quality in the team, which played a part in them slowly fading away as the 2021/22 Premier League season came to an end.

However, if Moyes gets his wishes and if those in the boardroom sign Ward-Prowse, then he would elevate the team to, number maintain their level and push further forward.

The Englishman is one of the best, if not the best, dead-ball specialist in the world today, so mix his qualities from free-kicks, alongside the likes of Tomas Soucek and Michail Antonio, then you have a deadly combination.
