Some Arsenal fans on social media have expressed how impressed they are with Gabriel Martinelli’s recent comments.
The Brazilian attacker spoke about his future at Arsenal, and he reaffirmed that his dream is to follow in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s footsteps by earning the number 14 shirt and becoming the club captain.
“I want to follow into Aubameyang’s footsteps, he’s a captain, he wears the No14 shirt, that is a symbol for this club and of course, I hope to be very successful at Arsenal,” Martinelli said.
The number 14 shirt at Arsenal is obviously very iconic due to the legendary attackers who have worn it in recent years, with Aubameyang, Theo Walcott and most notably Thierry Henry wearing 14.
If Martinelli turns out to be even half as good as any of those three, he will be some player.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Brazilian can fulfil his dream, but having those sort of lofty goals is exactly the type of mindset you want to see from a young play.
