Jurgen Klopp has paid tribute to the ‘great development’ of Ryan Kent since quitting Liverpool to join Rangers.

Kent began his professional career at the Anfield outfit but joined the Gers under Steven Gerrard in 2019.

The 25-year-old winger has since proven himself a revelation since leaving Liverpool, helping the Scottish Premiership giants to a league title in 2021 under the iconic Reds midfielder.

He is regularly linked with transfers to the Premier League – particularly at Leeds United – but he’ll be staying in Glasgow for at least another year.

That’s because Liverpool have been paired against Kent in the group stage of the Champions League, two fixtures he absolutely won’t want to miss.

And speaking to the club’s official website, Klopp lavished praise on his former player, while also highlighting the fact a reunion with Ben Davies – who joined Rangers this summer – is also on the cards.

He said: “Ryan Kent has had a great development since moving to Scotland and Ben Davies is just starting out on his journey with Rangers, so it will be good to come up against them.”

In addition to the light Blues, Klopp’s troops will also come up against Ajax and Napoli in the Champions League.

Even for Liverpool it’s a difficult group, given their current struggles in the Premier League.

So if it’s a hard one for the Reds, getting into the last 16 is a massive task for Giovanni van Bronckhorst and co, it has to be said.

Kent has scored 28 goals in all competitions for the Ibrox outfit.
