Arsenal linked defender Bruno Fuchs has chosen to join CSKA Moscow despite boasting interest from clubs in some of Europe’s major leagues, the Internacional ace’s agent has told Calciomercato.

With Gabriel Magalhaes jetting across the Channel, Arsenal fans could be forgiven for forgetting all about the other young Brazilian who has spent much of the summer being linked with a move to north London.

Pianeta Milan reported back in June that the Premier League giants were looking to take full advantage of a financial crisis which had even the biggest clubs in Brazil in a vice-like grip.

At the start of 2020, U23 international Fuchs was valued at around £14 million.

But his price-tag had allegedly fallen to around £7 million with Arsenal, AC Milan, Ajax, Monaco and Inter all sniffing around.

With the Gunners putting all their eggs into Gabriel’s basket, CSKA have swooped to complete their second eye-catching signing of the summer already.

“Bruno is a young defender, but with a great future. We are talking about a player who has just turned 21 and is one of the biggest transfers of a Brazilian defender to Europe,” says Stefano Castagna after Fuchs bid farewell to Internacional on Instagram.

“Bruno has unique characteristics for a defender, he can play on both sides and is very fast.

“In the end we decided for CSKA because they are one of the great clubs in Russia and Europe with great ambitions. I really believe that Bruno will be at the Qatar 2022 (World Cup) and will soon be one of the greatest Brazilian defenders in Europe.”

Calciomercato adds that Fuchs is in Russia to undergo medical examinations and sign a five-year deal with CSKA which will take him to 2025.

The Moscow giants have already snapped up another highly-rated South American in Argentina international striker Adolfo Gaich.
