According to The Times, Everton have asked about potentially signing Christian Eriksen this summer.
This should exciting news for almost every Evertonian. After all, Eriksen is a world-class midfielder, but one man who will be over the moon about this rumour is Dele Alli.
Indeed, Alli and Eriksen were, of course, former teammates at Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s fair to say that they struck up quite the rapport during their time together in north London.
The pair had an almost telepathic understanding on the pitch, and after Eriksen left Spurs, Alli was absolutely gutted, stating that he really missed the Dane while labelling him an ‘amazing player’.
What’s been said?
Alli spoke about Eriksen just a few weeks after he left Spurs in 2020.
“Chris is an amazing player,” Alli said after a win against Man City. “But it came to that point where he wanted to move on.”
“It was sad for me and the other boys because he got on with everyone, he was a great squad player, he got on well, he was great in training and always working hard on the pitch.
“He gave me a lot of assists as well and I am going to miss them, but at the same time I wish him all the best and I am sure we will speak soon, maybe go for dinner.”

Could reignite Alli
Signing Eriksen at Everton would be exciting for many reasons, but perhaps Dele Alli could be the biggest benefactor from this signing.
Indeed, Alli has lost his way over the past two years, but maybe, just maybe, a reunion with Eriksen could see him kick back into gear.
On his day, Alli is a world-class operator. After all, you don’t win two PFA Young Player of the Year awards if you’re not an elite talent, and perhaps if Eriksen is back playing alongside him, he’ll get back to something close to his best.
