Could Sunderland genuinely come away from Bristol City this weekend having taken all three points?
There has not been much to cheer about for Sunderland fans this season, with their team currently sitting second bottom of the Championship after 30 games.
However, away victories against Norwich City, Burton Albion and Nottingham Forest during a campaign that has yielded just five league wins in total has been something to savour.
Yet despite travelling to a Bristol City side currently sixth in the table, this weekend could represent a great opportunity for the Black Cats to take that total on the road to four.
That is because after an impressive start to the new campaign, a run to the Carabao Cup semi-finals – where they eventually lost over two legs to Manchester City – looks to have take its toll on the Robins.
Lee Johnson’s men have won just one their last six matches in the second tier of English football, losing on four occasions including at Ashton Gate to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Norwich.
Chris Coleman’s side may not be in the same sort of form as those two, but that does not mean that they can’t take all three points home from the South West against a team reeling from a 1-0 loss to another relegation-threatened outfit in Bolton Wanderers.
