Glenn Hoddle praised Rangers striker Cedric Itten on BT Sport 2 (11:05pm, December 10, 2020) for his goal for Steven Gerrard’s side on Thursday evening.

Itten scored the first goal for Rangers in the 2-0 win against Lech Poznan away from home in their final Europa League Group D.

The 23-year-old striker found the back of the net in the 31st minute, as the Gers finished top of Group D.

Tottenham Hotspur legend Hoddle was impressed by the goal from the Switzerland international striker, who joined Rangers from St Gallen in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee reported by The Sunday Post to be worth £2 million.

Hoddle said about Itten’s goal on BT Sport 2 (11:05pm, December 10, 2020): “He does really well, doesn’t he? It’s poor defending, but once he gets it, he has still got a lot to do.

“Lovely little body swerve, and it goes to the near post, just drives it there, look at this, great bit of technique, creates space on the outside, but really just beats the goalkeeper on the near post for that power.”

Good performance from Cedric Itten

Itten played well for Rangers against Poznan and took his goal extremely well.

The striker has not been playing regularly for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this season, but on Thursday evening, he showed what he is capable of.

The 23-year-old worked hard, gave the opposition defence problems, and linked up well with his teammates.

According to WhoScored, Itten took three shots, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 71.4%, won five headers, took 42 touches, attempted three dribbles, and made one tackle.
