Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has told Ainsley Maitland-Niles ‘you are great’ on Instagram after Arsenal allowed him to leave on loan to Roma.

The recently-stripped captain wasn’t the only one reacting to that news because Aaron Ramsdale also told his teammate ‘going to miss you’.

This is what Aubameyang stated in the comments section when Maitland-Niles posted on IG about the move: ‘You are great,’.

Whilst Thomas Partey added, ‘Good luck my guy.’ and Ramsdale said, ‘Going to miss you brother. It’s go time.’

In truth, Maitland-Niles should have left Arsenal in the summer because, back then, he was crying out for regular starts.

It will be interesting to see where his future lies in north London because he has never been a regular under Mikel Arteta.

It’s pretty obvious that Aubameyang has probably played his last game for Arsenal, but is Maitland-Niles in the same boat, but for different reasons?

A lot of that will depend on what happens in Serie A and under the guidance of a certain Jose Mourinho.

If the England international thrives in Italy, then Mourinho will, no doubt, want to keep the player on a long-term basis.

Mourinho may get mixed reviews on how he handles players, but when they are on his side, and vice-versa, then they thrive, big time.

And just like a certain Joe Willock, Arteta may just allow him to leave on a permanent basis if his stock rises.

At the end of the day, Willock’s sale from Arsenal to Newcastle has proven to be a masterstroke from the London club’s perspective because he hasn’t scored since.
