Manchester United are considering a somewhat surprising move for Aston Villa star Jack Grealish this summer, according to the Sun.

Grealish has impressed for Villa this season as they made it to the Championship playoff final, but their 1-0 defeat to Fulham in that game could well see the 22-year-old leave in search of Premier League football.

Apparently the England Under-21 international’s driving runs from midfield have impressed the Red Devils and they are considering making a move.

Warning signs

A switch to Old Trafford would be a dream come true for many footballers and understandably so, but the way manager Jose Mourinho has spoken about certain players at the club this term should be concerning for Grealish.

The Daily Mail reports that Luke Shaw, who is the same age at 22, confronted Mourinho after being substituted a half-time during an FA Cup victory over Brighton and Hove Albion and asked ‘why always me?’, with this latest humiliation coming after the United boss had publicly called out the left-back on several occasions.

Then Mourinho, who has a reputation of failing to develop younger players, appeared to criticise Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford after his team had lost to Brighton, this time in the league, with the Express quoting:

“You have the answer now when you ask ‘why always [Romelu] Lukaku?'”

With so much competition already at Mourinho’s disposal, while on the face of it a move to Manchester would seem appealing, could it actually hinder Grealish’s career and development?
