Jack Grealish has told The Football Show that he was speaking to Dean Smith about how impressed he had been with Aston Villa’s players after their return to training.
Villa are stepping up their preparations, as they get ready for the Premier League’s restart.
Villa have been back in contact training this week, and after so long off, Grealish has been pleased with how fit the rest of his teammates have looked.
The claret and blues need to hit the ground running when the action restarts.
And Grealish appears to believe that Villa’s training sessions suggest that they could be well placed to fight their way back from relegation trouble.
“Everyone knows how much of a tough run in we have, but we are all confident in there,” the playmaker said.
“We have all come back as fit as ever and I was only speaking to the manager yesterday about how fit everyone is looking.”
Grealish’s form will be so crucial to Villa’s chances of survival.
The 24-year-old is already the club’s talisman and star player, and they will be relying on him to perform if they are to make it out of the drop zone.
As things stand Villa sit in 19th place in the Premier League table, two points away from safety.
