Former Norwich City hitman Grant Holt has revealed that he would have jumped at the chance to play for Leeds United at some stage in his career.
The 35-year-old – now at Hibernian with Neil Lennon – has represented no fewer than 12 English clubs since beginning his senior career at Cumbria-based Workington in 1999.
Seven of those are currently in the Championship but he has never represented Leeds, whom his father supported.
But the former Norwich and Aston Villa striker, who netted 24 Premier League goals in 55 top-flight starts, says he would’ve joined the Whites in a heartbeat had the opportunity presented itself.
With Holt very much in the twilight of his career, his dream move to Leeds is unlikely to ever materialise in the context of a playing role at least, but the veteran has done well to remain at a decent level.
This season, Holt will team up with the likes of Jason Cummings and try fire Hibernian back into the Scottish Premiership, with Hibs – then under Alan Stubbs – missing out on promotion last term after losing a playoff semi-final.
