Ian Wright has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka getting dismissed against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Anfield.

Arsenal took on Premier League rivals Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final tie on Thursday evening.

Xhaka started the match for Arsenal.

Granit Xhaka sent off for Arsenal v Liverpool

The Switzerland international midfielder was sent off in the 24th minute for his challenge on Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.

Jota was baring down on goal, and Xhaka made a bad kick on the Portugal international forward.

Referee Michael Oliver showed the 29-year-old midfield a straight red card.

After all, Xhaka caught Jota in the chest.

As you can see from the tweet below, Arsenal legend Wright is seemingly furious with Xhaka.

We say ‘seemingly’, as the BBC Sport pundit does not seem to mention Xhaka in the tweet, but it is very likely that he was the player Wright was refereeing to.

Encouraging result for Arsenal

In our view, Arsenal should be pleased with the final result and their performance against Liverpool.

The first leg finished in a goalless draw.

This means that Arsenal will head into the second leg at the Emirates Stadium as the favourites.

Liverpool did not have Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane against Arsenal, and that exposed their lack of world-class quality in attack.

Klopp’s side really struggled to break dow a very compact and disciplined Arsenal defence.
