Granit Xhaka has described Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday as ‘enjoyable’, as he posted on Instagram.

The 29-year-old played the entire game for his side, alongside Thomas Partey in the middle of the park, as Arsenal increased their chances of a top-four finish.

After the game, Xhaka posted the following five-word message to the club’s supporters.

There was slight confusion during the game when there were suggestions that Xhaka refused to take the captain’s armband following Alexandre Lacazette’s substitution.

Whilst the pictures may seem like the midfielder refused to take it, he was actually telling Eddie Nketiah to direct it towards Kieran Tierney because he is ‘next in line’, as Mikel Arteta confirmed after the match to Football London.

With that cleared up, it was a professional performance by those in north London and another sign that their academy duo are shining bright.

Both Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka got on the scoresheet yesterday to prove why they are heading right to the top.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that they achieve their success in their colours, rather than having to go elsewhere to do it.

At this moment in time, their long-term future is at the Emirates, and with those two on board, their future is bright.

Nonetheless, Arteta’s side are one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the Premier League table.

But the most important factor of all is that they have two games in hand.
