Granit Xhaka told his Arsenal teammate Kieran Tierney on his Instagram story to ‘come back stronger’ after news emerged about his injury.
The Scotland international could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury (The Telegraph), which is news Arsenal fans simply didn’t want to hear.
It’s a body blow not just for Arsenal, but for Scotland also because they will be fretting about whether he will be fit in time for the Euros.
But, at this moment in time, it’s Arsenal who have to deal with the Tierney news because it couldn’t have come at a worse time.
Arsenal have some huge games coming up, no more than today when they face off against Slavia Prague in the Europa League.
Get knocked out of that and then Arsenal fans may just have to wave goodbye to European football for next season.
And if that happens then it will just sum up the abject season Arsenal have had during this campaign.
Given that Arsenal don’t have a back-up left-back to fill the void left by Tierney, it does seem as though Bukayo Saka will be the one to fill that role.
But he too has had his injury problems. Either way, only a win today will cheer up the Arsenal faithful.
