Calciomercato.it are reporting that Arsenal are on the verge of selling Granit Xhaka to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.
What’s the story?
It is being reported by the Italian news outlet that Arsenal will sell Xhaka to Roma for €20 million (£17.11m).
Barring ‘sensational surprises’, the Switzerland international midfielder will join Roma in their pre-season training camp in Portugal next week.
Arsenal are making a loss
Arsenal will make a big loss on Xhaka, if they sell him for €20 million (£17.11m).
The Gunners paid Borussia Monchengladbach £30 million for Xhaka in the summer of 2016, as reported by Sky Sports.
This means that the Gunners would be taking a loss of £13 million on the 28-year-old, who has played 98 times for Switzerland.

Of course, a player’s value can and does go down over time, but Xhaka is 28 now and has been a regular for the Gunners over the years.
In theory, the Swiss is actually at his peak. He is 28 after all.
Are Arsenal really that desperate to get rid of Xhaka that they are willing to make a loss of £13 million?
Or can the Gunners not get any club to pay them more than the €20 million (£17.11m) they will reportedly get from Roma?
