Granit Xhaka has thanked Arsenal fans for chanting about him recently, admitting that he is feeling the love from Gunners supporters.

What a start to the season this has been for Arsenal.

Eight wins from nine in the Premier League leaves Arsenal top of the table, whilst they have also secured three wins from three in the Europa League.

The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Jesus have been earning huge praise off the back of their performances this term.

Yet the displays of midfielder Granit Xhaka may be the biggest surprise for most.

Granit Xhaka has thanked Arsenal fans

Xhaka has been a mainstay of the Arsenal side since arriving from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016 but hasn’t always earned praise.

The Swiss midfielder had been known for rash tackles and silly yellow cards, but the narrative is changing game by game.

Xhaka has been playing high and wide in this Arsenal midfield setup and is being allowed to impact the game further forward than ever before.

We saw that to great effect against Tottenham as Xhaka broke forward to score and seal a 3-1 win for Arsenal.

Xhaka is clearly a key part of this Arsenal side and he is arguably playing his best football in the famous red and white shirt.

Arsenal fans have been chanting about Xhaka of late, singing ‘we’ve got Granit Xhaka’ to the tune of ‘Glad All Over’.

Players will always love when fans chant about them – at least when it’s positive – and Xhaka seems to really appreciate Arsenal fans signing about him.

Xhaka has told the Daily Mail that he was ‘so grateful’ to hear that chant about him during Arsenal’s win over Brentford last month.

Xhaka admitted that the chants made him ‘emotional’ because he really didn’t expect to hear them, adding that he really feels the love from Arsenal fans right now and it’s only helping him play even better.

“They started singing and I was so grateful,” said Xhaka. “The first time they sing, it was Brentford, I got emotional a lot, because I didn’t expect that. Maybe the people outside can’t see it, but for me it means a lot. I need to feel love from fans. And this is what I feel at the moment and why I’m performing like this. It’s much easier to give them something back and fight for them if you feel that,” he added.
