Arsenal kicked off their Europa League campaign with an excellent win away to last season’s semi-finalists Eintracht Frankfurt.
Even though the German side had sold key attackers Sebastien Haller, Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic, Arsenal fielded an under strength side and passed with flying colours, winning 3-0.
Much criticised defender Shkodran Mustafi featured as a starter, and was delighted to keep a clean sheet. He sent a message after the game.
Midfielder Granit Xhaka has had a very mixed start to the season. This was one of his better games.
Of the duo, only one is likely to feature in Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League fixture.
Arsenal host Aston Villa on Sunday, and Xhaka is likely to be back in the side. Mustafi has not featured in the league this season.
This was at least a successful reintroduction to the side for him, without calamity.
